Concrete foundation with cinder blocks?

I have a bunch of used cinder blocks...and was wondering if I can lay them in the place where I want to lay a concrete foundation for a small house..this would reduce the amount if concrete needed..but I worry about the strength of the foundation afterwards ...any ideas on this..thanks
