Soundproofing in a townhouse?

I have just moved into a townhouse. The construction is from the 70's and is cinder block from the garage all the way to the roof. This seems ideal to me, and I'm pretty sure I can't hear the neighbors, although today I thought I heard the bass of a tv but was not totally certain. Anybody have experience living in a house like this, and what is the soundproofing like?
